If anybody's interested, I wrote another film-related article for Associated Content:

Edit: By the way, Troy, I responded to your last post. I don't want you to miss it as it's the last post on the second page.

Wow. That's disappointing to hear. Makes me glad we didn't waste our money on Sundance. The plan is to submit early but we're just not happy yet. I'm afraid of our 20 minute running time. I've got a 5 minute comedy short we're hoping to produce early next year. Maybe we'll have a better shot with it. Good luck with the rest of your submissions and let me know if you get a screening any where.

Hey edsas, I've been away and haven't dropped in much here but I wanted to let you know we just got into a film festival. It's not very big but it's a start. We haven't had any rejection letters yet from any others so we're keeping our fingers crossed.

I don't think I'm gonna be able to go but I'm trying to figure out a way to go. We didn't get much notice and it's a little too far. I does look like it'd be fun though.

My short film UNGLUED got nominated for an award at the TCIFF for Best Editing/Short Film. They haven't announced winners yet but pretty cool just to be nominated.

It's nice to see things pick up around here lately. Good discussions on some very specific formatting questions. Hope it continues.

Got a new project going. It's a western/comedy web pilot. Shooting starts in April out in Nevada. Looks like I'm writing the first 4 episodes.

Don't really know that much about web based shows. (I know, it's where the future's at) How long are the episodes? Does it play more like an episodic movie - little chapters that come together to complete a full story - or is it more like a typical TV show?

Good luck and congrats!

This one is going to be 4 independent 12-minute episodes that sort of fold together to form one 48-minute story.

The hope is to be picked up for television (that's where the "pilot" comes in), but the show will continue on the web if it's not.

Hey edsas, lots of luck with the new project. Sounds interesting.

I've got another short in preproduction. We just completed casting and we're shooting in April as well. I'm working with a new prodco on this one. I'm writing and directing, but on this one there is an entire crew.

Awesome, Troy. Good luck with yours, too.

It's been almost two years since I directed my short. I'm getting itchy to do it again, myself.

If the western/ comedy thing gets picked up for TV, would the 4 "webisodes" air as the TV pilot... or are they meant to exist only on the web?

In an ideal world, I think we'd probably remake the first TV episode using the webisode scripts. The budget for the shoot is $30 K.

Hi all, I wrote another screenwriting article. This one is about how to create an online spec market that could eliminate the need for Hollywood readers. Or at least dramatically reduce the need for them.

Take a look:

"95% of all spec scripts are a shameful waste of brain cells and forests."

Close...but the actual number probably hovers closer to 99%.
