Hello,
My business partner and I are currently looking for feature length screenplays of all genres for independent production, and possible studio distribution. We have a great deal of contacts and investors to get the right films made. We currently have one project in pre-production, and two projects in development, one with potential distribution from Sony. If you are a writer who is looking to get your scripts read, and possibly made, please send me a copy of your best stuff. If you prefer to send a hard copy, please contact me for an address. Thanks, and I look forward to reading your work. -Peter Morenz please send scripts in pdf format to: pkfilm@gmail.com |

Hello Peter,
Although I am an author, I did once write a story similar to a screenplay. It is called: "Billionaires in Space" - It is a comedy where a young man stumbles upon a UFO in the woods. Now the aliens are remarkably and humorously clumsy, and this particular one that owns the UFO is in the woods, doing whatever aliens do in the woods. He is parked though, to fix his ship a little, so his stay is prolonged at this site. The young man goes and finds his friend in a bar, where there is a most peculiar looking band playing, and tells his friend of the UFO and they together go to see it. Now the alien is then again off somewhere, and they two enter the ship. But his friend, being somewhat a "Gilligan" accidentally starts the thing. They rise a little off the ground, gaining the forlorn attention of the alien, which runs out of the woods, trips over a log and falls down. It seems these aliens find it easier to fall down often than to go about as one might expect. He begins to scream at the two in the ship, but the ship is now on auto, and begins to go into space, finally to come to a spaceport, where they again find a bar, and sit down. There is a girl working there from Earth who had stole away on a UFO sometime earlier. She knew the alien who owned the ship. While there, they noticed the band was the same one they had seen in the bar on Earth... Anyway, the "Gilligan" goes to the restroom, where an alien, being clumsy, slips, hits his head, and is knocked cold. The boy watches a micro-film roll across the floor from the alien to his feet, picks it up and finally returns to the table. (But meanwhile, on Earth, the poor alien had sat down to his fate, drinking a large amount of drink, and then, in a drunk, falls backwards off the log he had tripped over.) Anyways, the alien that lost the micro-film comes out of the bathroom screaming "Robbers!" (only it sounds more like "$ty#ghfr%!" and begins to blast the place with his new ray gun. While the two boys and the girl huddle under the table, the one asks the other, What did you do (say) to that guy? He shrugges it off. Meanwhile, the alien trips, falls, and knocks himself out. Other aliens come in and arrest him. When the "Gilligan" shows the micro-film to the girl she explains it is money. They return to Earth where the sad alien is still sad, accepting to his fate. When he sees them come from the ship he yells and yells. The two wonder if he is going to fall over. But the girl manages a deal where the two buy his ship, and shall take him back to the port. But when they hand the roll of micro-film to the alien, he cuts off only two little frames and is satisfied it is a good deal. The two end up with a spaceship and billions of dollars in space money. It ends with one of them pulling the micro-film from the roll as the other holds it, unwinding many feet of these little squares, finally spinning and wrapping himself in the micro-film. Thus begins these unlikely billionaires' career. This is not well written and without looking at the script. But thought you might like the story. Peter,
To novice writers, your post seems like a dream come true. But surely you are aware that people who write posts like yours are more likely a dreamer or a schemer... and not someone that can actually make anything happen. This isn't to accuse you of being one of "those guys"... but since this is a writer's learning board, I thought I could use your post as an example to raise some questions that all writers should be aware. 1) If you are an emerging producer, how do you have so much in production without anything completed? How do you have the funds to honestly move 3 productions forward - while soliciting more? Or maybe they are incredibly low budget. If so, what type of distribution plans do you have for these films? 2) If you have produced films in the past, how many? Where can we find them? Again, why are you putting so many films in motion? What's your involvment in these films (are these films your babies... demanding all of your time to see through? or do you package scripts with directors and allow other people to see the projects through (allowing you the time to make more deals and find more scripts)) To the writers out there, we must all remember that as desparate we are to make our scripts, there are more sharks out there than real producers. Ask the tough questions. Be OK with walking away. Be able to decifer who's BS-ing you early on, so you don't waste your time. Remember, WE WRITERS HAVE THE POWER, because we have the script. A movie starts with the script. They need us. That's why scripts can sell for big money... the good ones are in short supply. That said, it's OK if your prospective producer/director doesn't have any credits on imdb.com... it's likely that you don't either. Everyone's got to start somewhere and it's OK to choose to do anything to get a movie made... just be clear at the beginning what to expect. A no-name director wants to pay you nothing for your script? That's not inherently bad, unless he/she starts making you promises about back-end fortunes, etc... Go again and get a movie made, if that's a choice you're comfortable making. The advantage is that you will have accomplished something; You may do someting that gets you noticed; Mosy likely, the best thing you'll have is a working relationship that may pay dividends down the line (but think: is this producer the guy that you want to start a business relationship with?) Stay critical. Don't keep your standards so high that only Ron Howard is worthy of directing your first script. Don't send your script blindly to random people... check them out first. And lastly, anyone and everyone has a *potential* studio deal. If I write an OK script that grabs the interest of an A-list actor (which I'm not anticipating will happen), believe me, I could get a studio interested today... (and it's not because of me, or my script - it'll be for the marketable names I'm fortunate enough to get attached to the project). Know that you're getting a sales pitch. Ignore the glitter and treat it like a business deal. Realize the potential and proceed intellegently. Peter:
I have future plans of writing a screenplay or two. I am currently finishing my memoir which I think could make a good movie. In addition, there is a case of true crime that I will be writing a screenplay on. I would like to know where to find some tools to help me with the writing process. I am interested in studying former screenplays and instructional books for this purpose. If you have some resources that can be recommended, I appreciate that. |

Hi Peter
Are you still looking for scripts? I know of a writer in the UK that has an awesome feature screenplay (Big budget) that has received great critical reviews as well as progressing in this years screenwriting competitions. I could put them in contact with you if you wish. thanks and regards Stanley |

FYI, The original poster, Peter, originally posted in February. This was his only post. Nobody responded (at all) until 3 months later... and now there have been a few more posts.
Regardless of whether or not he's ligit, it's likely he hasn't checked back here since the day he registered in Feb 2006. It seems silly to post here... If anyone feels compelled to reach him, I'd opt for the gmail account he included (I wouldn't expect anything, but people can certainly report their experiences) This message has been edited. Here's his profile on IMDB:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1733913/ Looks like he's done a lot of crew work on some relatively major films. My guess is that he's well-connected and the projects he has going on are indeed going on (once you strike one deal, things tend to snowball), but that he's probably not in position to take your opus from page to canister with the shake of a hand. I wish all involved good luck and there's certainly nothing wrong with shooting emails back and forth. You never know where one might lead. |

movie IDEA:
(takin from some real life events) 2 families grow up being extremly close (of middle eastern decent..living in Michigan, U.S.).. (they r also catholic..) 1st family: husband, wife, 1 oldest boy, and 2 girls 2nd family: husband, wife, 4 girls and a little white dog they are americanized and speak clear english with no accents but still have big gatherings and are cultured. story shows the whole outline and overview of the 2 families and how they were all close.. the girls and the boy.. and then circles in on the individual lives of the oldest boy.. and oldest girl from the 2 familes..and then meeting again and falling in love. (both start out in a middle class family.. second family becomes wealthy..) some key events to include: * the different stages of growing up together (infants, toddlers, preteens) they used to build tents together, go camping with bonfires, go fishing, play in a pond in their backyard, take bubble baths together when they were toddlers), have sleepovers and sleep next to one another. * husband of the first family.. works and owns his own liquor store in detroit.. and then gets shot and killed.. mom of second family.. stays in the delivery room and helps 1st mom..because mom of 1st family was pregnant when he was shot. * mom of 1st family.. ends all contact with ppl including 2nd family.. for 6 or 7 years because she is mourning and depressed over her husband.. but keeps a picture of 2nd family.. and 2nd mom with her.. by her bedside. * they end up having their moms meet again(and cry) at a huge friend/family event and they exchange all of our numbers and screenames and plan on getting our families together again *the 2 oldest kids end up talking to each other through webcam and microphone and online.. for months until they see each other again..the girl is 17 and the boy is 20.. and when they speak/meet again. (hes about to turn 21) * they click right away and it doesnt even seem as if they were gone, they finish e/os sentences and are basically like twins..they agree to stay best friends and stay in touch and continue to get to know each other in hopes of developing somthing in the future (basically the girl waiting for him and he waiting for her too) so they wait when the boy comes home from school.. and it works out and they marry and travel and have babies.. some conflict to include: * boy doesnt want to talk about dads death until he meets with girl again * when they talk online it sometimes flashes back to the good old days while they r talking. * in the meantime b4 they even meet again.. girl dumps boyfriend of 2 1/2 yrs because he is isnt deep and he isnt the one.. and he isnt ready for commitment, and the guy is judgemental and picky over what kind of girls he wants and doesnt get close (this canbe shown during the space in between (the 5-7 yrs)) *trying to find themselves *just a romantic movie, with some humor, some tear jerkers, and a story to tell (kind of somthing like Elizabethtown and Spanglish) other: they see each other for 2 or 3 summers b4 they can start a relationship and they finally share a kiss.. when the 2 families get together and go on a trip to Mackinaw Island..the families have no idea about the feelings the 2 have for one another. (the dad doesnt go on this trip.. cuz the other dad is not alive.. and just the mom and kids go.. like the old days).. the other kids r sporty and go play volleyball together and get along great and the guy and oldest girl just end up spending the whole weekend with each other talking) Character Info: boys name: Sean. ...other alternative: Sam girls name: Alexa. ...other alternative: Ally, Alanna, Alaina, Avery * the boy is tall, long hair and a small goatee, (orlando bloom would be perfect).. girl has very very long black hair with big dark eyes.. and bites the corner of her lip when shes shy (on webcam) (looks like penelope cruz/eva mendez), exotic looking but young * the girl is a very good girl. a virgin until marriage. classy, sarcastic, intelligent, strong, tough, and sensitive, a bit shy, complex, mature beyond her yrs, serious, quiet sometimes * the guy hides his emotions about losing his father and takes over being the man of the house, strong, intellectual, smart, shy, complex, serious this story is not copy written and i dont want it to be.. i would just like someone to pick it up and do somthing with it... but i do not want this posted anywhere on the internet, i just would like it to be emailed to interested ppl who are willing to make this into a movie. |

Hello Peter Maybe a bit late but I have a possible couple of pitches for a script. One called The Sanctuary. Tells the story of a young widow whose wife and unborn child are killed in a road rage attack. After the trial of the perpetrator, he starts a new life at a Wildlife sanctuary owned by his other brother in law. Not all is plain sailing from the brother of one of the volunteers who owns a private fishing boat, is opposed to the Sanctuary which specializes in orphaned or injured seals. The culmination is the death of the owner and later the death of the girl's brother when his vehicle loses control on a wet road surface during a police chase, crashes and explodes for on board is a can of fuel. Second one is Cold Stone Under. This story is about a retired police detective who despite being warned off,is all the more determined to clear his younger colleague's name for a murder of his wife. During the course of his investigations, he uncovers a paedophile ring that inveigles the Inverness Constablulary and a children's home with serious ramifications for the chief Constable. I would be interested in your viewpoint Fiona Johnston |

Hello Anyone and Everyone,
I know this is an old post... But does anybody know if anything came about from any of this? Just wondering if is it worth anybody posting a query here about looking for scripts. Penelope. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Penelope, |
